This meetup group is a continuation of the Aspie Friends group that has been around since 2007. Located in Greenville, SC, Aspie Friends is a non-profit organization that provides support to children and families dealing with high-functioning autism.  High-functioning autism is only a segment of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) which includes Asperger’s Syndrome.  The term 'Aspie' is an affectionate name given to those who are diagnosed with Asperger's.

Do you have a family member who is a high functioning disabled young adult? Do you know someone who just doesn't seem to fit into what others describe as normal or disabled? In this group at the beginning there will be interest meetings for those young adults and their family members where we will set up social activities for the group twice a month.
